Description

Photograph of Louis Carl Waltens; (died 11/20/1948). Owner of Decatur's first travel agency and a supporter of aviation in 1911. He and August Hendrian were the first to won and pilot an airplane in Illinois. He ws in the nursery and grocery business in Decatur before he opened an insurance and real estate agency and started the city's first travel agency. He retired in 1943. He was a past commander of Scott Wilson Camp of United Spanish War Veterans and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Photo by VanDeventer of Decatur, IL.
