Herald and Review Library: Morenz, Cadet Edwin W.; Article on back of photo; "Flight Trainee, Cadet Edwin W. Morenz, son of Mrs. Minnie Morenz, 2165 East Decatur street, has reported to Carlsbad, N. M., army air field, where he will receive advanced flight training. His wife, the former Mary J. Hornback, lives at 1311 East Dickinson avenue." "Flight Officer Edwin W. Morenz, 28, formerly reported missing in action, has been declared dead by the War Department, according to a message received by his wife, Mary Jane, 1311 East Dickinson avenue. He was the son of Mrs. Minnie Morenz, 2162 East Decatur street. Flight Officer Morenz first was reported missing in action on June 13, 1945, during a mission over Takoa, Formosa. He was bombardier on a B-24."
