Lauer, 25, of 844 West Waggoner street, Decatur, IL., pilot of a Mitchell Bomber. Lt. Lauer received severe head wounds from enemy flak over Del Monte, North Central Mindanao, but his grit and determination in spite of pain and badly affected eyesight, brought his plane back to base."
