Herald and Review Library: Hudson, S/Sgt. Robert E.; Article on back of photo; "Hero of B-24, Flier Hit 9 Times, Paralyzed in B-24; One of Decatur's heroes is home from the war--on a 17 day furlough from Mayo General Hospital at Galesburg. He is Staff Sgt. Robert E. Hudson, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl O. Hudson, 252 Condit street. Being at home Christmas and for the New Year holiday, has provided a good furlough for Sergeant Hudson, despite the fact that his feet and lower legs are paralyzed as a result of an injury received in action over Germany last Feb. 21. It as provided a break in the boredom of lying in army hospitals since the time of his injury. In Four Hospitals. He was first hospitalized in England, then returned to the United States to Halloran General hospital on Staten Island and later to Schick General hospital in Clinton, Iowa, before being transferred to the Galesburg hospital. Mrs. Emily Hudson, bob's mothers, is manager of the Piggly Wiggly.
