Description
Photographs from the January 7, 1911 fire at the Ehman Mantel Factory fire. The factory was located at the corner of Jasper and Garfield. The origin of the fire was unknown however the flames were discovered in the elevator shaft by Otto Ehman on the first floor and by the Night Watchman Herman Jansen who was on the third floor at the time. Ehman rushed to help Jansen from the third floor as he was almost overtaken by smoke. The fire fighters were hindered by low water pressure in trying to extinguish the fire. The building was a complete loss with an estimated $200,000 worth of damage.
