Description
From 1895 to 1905 Decatur had several big corn carnival festivals. Streets were lined with carnival attractions of all kinds. Free attractions were numerous. Corn and stalks were used for decorations everywhere. Prizes were given, not only for exhibits of grain, but parades, decorations, etc. Decatur's "Korn Karnivals" of the 1890's and early 1900's were attended by thousands who appreciated the city's title as "Corn Center", one of many distinctive titles in Decatur history. The last "Korn Karnival" was held in 1914.
