Photograph of Building at S. Park and 200 Block N. Water Street. Located at the southeast corner of S. Park and N. Water streets this building was erected in 1878 for Peddecord and Burrows banking firm. On the consolidation of that banking firm with the National Bank of Decatur the building was torn down to be replaced in 1914 by the present structure of the National Bank of Decatur. Originally started when friends began to leave their money with J. J. Peddecord to be put in his store safe in 1852 the banking firm was formally organized in 1855, the first of Decatur's banking institutions. Photo used 9/18/1935.
