Description
WWII - Herald and Review Library; Folrath, Laird D., 2/17/1942. Article on back of photo: "First Lieut. Laird D. Folrath of Decatur is shown at his military police detachment desk at Fort Custer, Mich. Lt. Folrath and his wife, who also is at Fort Custer, formerly lived at 392 North Oakland Ave.. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Folrath, 935 W. Main St.. A novel method of handling military and civilian speeders has been worked out by Lt. Folrath's office at the fort. The speeder is courteously picked up by an M. P. and escorted to M. P. headquarters. the faster he was going the long the wait for disposition of his case. The usual "sitting time" is 15 minutes for each mile per hour over the speed limit, which is plainly marked at the camp. There are no arguments, and the offender sits on a hard bench-- the treatment is said to be very effective."
