Photograph of Edward G. Powers on horseback. Edward died in 1950 at the age of 89, rides one of the several horses his family always kept when this picture was taken in June, 1908. Although there were motor cars in Decatur in that year, the horse still was important for transportation and work. Mr. Powers devoted his life to his interests in drama, music, opera painting, and people. Print from J. K. Stafford collection of negatives taken in the late 1890's and early 1900's which were in the possession of Mr. and Mrs. Jack French of Cerro Gordo in 1954 --recovered from Stafford attic in July 1953.
