Description

Photograph of Bernard Bradley (b. 1859, d. 10/15/1941), a Decatur merchant and partner in the Bradley Bros. department store. Bradley came to Decatur in 1881, and opened the store at 123 N. Water with his brother, Dennis. The store moved from this location to the Block & Kuhl location in 1888. The Bradley Bros. store closed in 1910 when the building was given to the Gebhart Co. He later worked as a manager of Carpo Soap Co. at 1156 N. Railroad. Bradley was a member of St. Patrick's Church and a life member of the Decatur Country Club.
