Herald and Review Library: Williamson, Ensign Lowell; Article on back of photo; "Lowell Williamson, son of Dr. and Mrs. O. M. Williamson, 228 North Woodlawn avenue, has returned to Decatur from Pensacola, Fla., after completing nine months of training and receiving his wings and commission as an ensign in the United States Naval Reserve Air Corps. He left for the naval base in November and has done 270 hours of actual flying. Ensign Williamson was a member of the first class to graduate under the new shortened training program. Before this plan was inaugurated, the training period was one and a half years. He ranked 13th in a class of 102 during his in-doctrinal training period. He will sail from Las Angeles Aug 23 on the steam Matsonia for Honolulu, where he will go on active duty at the shore base in Pearl Harbor."
