Herald and Review Library: Williams, Billy V., Article on back of photo; "Billy V. Williams, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams, 1103 East Condit street, and Robert Holmes, 18, (not pictured) son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holmes, 3856 East Marietta street, both of whom were friends for five years that they carried newspapers in Decatur, have joined separate branches of the U. S. Service. Williams joined the navy on Feb. 3 for a six year enlistment and last week completed his training period at the Great Lakes base. he will receive an assignment to ship within the next few days. Holmes was stationed at Jefferson Barracks after he joined the air corps in February., is being transferred to Chanute Field, Rantoul this week."
