Description
WWII - Herald and Review Library; Davidson, Maj. William V., 5/17/1945. Major William V. Davidson recently returned veteran of the Pacific War, will be the speaker at Sunday ceremonies honoring war workers who maintained good attendance records. Major Davidson left Leyte on Dec. 31, 1944, after serving in the military intelligence section of the 24th Infantry division since the activation of the division to the Hawaiian islands in October 1941. He was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941, and during the past three years has served in Hawaii, Australia, British New Guinea, Dutch New Guinea and the Philippine islands. He participated in the initial landings at Hollandia and Biak, Dutch New Guinea, and at Leyte on General MacArthur's first jump back to the Philippines. In the Leyte action Major Davidson was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in obtaining enemy intelligence under fire." Received 7/23/1996.
