"Bill" Waltz, electrician's mate second class, who has seen most of the war from the periscope of a submarine, has returned to duty after his first leave home in three years. the closest call he had with death in all his ship's forays against the japanese, was the time last spring when, after ramming a Jap patrol boat, his gallant skipper ordered the sub to dive while he, the commander, lay mortally wounded on deck."
