Description
WWII - Herald and Review Library; Dalluge, Pvt. Vernon H., 2/1/1947. Article on back of photo: "A letter of commendation was presented yesterday at Scott Field to Pvt. Vernon H. Dalluge, of Mt. Zion, (right) by Brig. Gen. Donald F. Fritch, field commandant for spectacular behavior performed in administering first aid to Mrs. Mary Hunt of Dalton City, who was fatally injured Dec 15 in a traffic accident on routes 36 and 121, southeast of Decatur. Although Mr. Hunter died three days later, Private Dalluge prevented immediate death by holding his fingers on severed veins, stemming hemorrhage until the injured woman arrived at St Mary's hospital."
