Description

WWII - Herald and Review Library; Coughlin, Sgt. Thomas O., 8/15/1943. Article on back of photo: "Battlefront Flying Brought many Brands of Thrills: by G. Willard King of the Herald-Review Staff: Dropping bombs on the German Panzers from an elevation of 35 feet can't compare with crash landing on a plane going 250 miles an hour if you are looking for thrills. Staff Sgt. Thomas O. Coughlin son of Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Coughlin, 1764 North College street ought to know because he has just returned from almost a year as an aerial gunner in North Africa. During the time since he left England in December and flew to North Africa he has helped blast the Axis on the Sahara desert through the mountains of the Kasserine and right to the sunny shores of Sicily."
