Article on back of photo: "By Margaret Strong of the Herald Staff: 'The task of hauling supplies to the Russian border is a dangerous and an exacting one,' asserted John T. Cotterell, son of Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Cotterell of 1934 N, Main St., who recently flew back to the United States from Iran, where for 21 months he served with the Army motor transport command. His recent plane trip, by way of Russia and North Africa, was completed in 43 hours, a journey which two years ago took him 55 days. A graduate of Decatur High School, John was employed by the area engineers at Oak
Ordinance plant before going into service. After spending a 10-day delay enroute with his family he reported to Ft. Benning, Georgia, where he will attend officers training school."
