Herald and Review Library: Roth, Richard L., Article on back of photo; "Roth to Attend Short Course; Visits Decatur before Joining Naval School; Richard L. Roth, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Roth, 135 South Glencoe avenue, is in Decatur for a short visit before going to Harvard University, Boston, where he will take a three-months supply course given by the navy department. He has been given a lieutenant junior grade commission in the navy. Mrs. Roth, who was Trenna Burchell before their marriage in 1935 will continue to make her home in San Francisco, where Mr. Roth has been in retail business for the past seven years. Valedictorian of the 1930 class at Decatur high school, Mr. Roth received his bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Illinois in 1934. He took his masters degree from the school of retailing at new York university in 1935."
